Beau Rivage Welcomes the National Touring Company of CATS

America’s Favorite Family Musical Comes to the Coast for Limited Engagement

BILOXI, Miss. – This Thanksgiving weekend, Beau Rivage Resort & Casino will host a special limited engagement run of one of the best loved family musicals of all time. Cats, the show that revolutionized musical theatre is coming to the Beau Rivage Theatre for five performances, Nov.23-Nov. 25.

Based on T.S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, and with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, Cats opened at the New London Theater in the West End on May 11, 1981. In 1982 Cats opened at the Winter Garden Theatre in New York City and continued to live up to its motto “Now and Forever.” In 1983 it won seven Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, Best Lightning and Best Costumes.

The longest running musical in the history of British theatre, Cats played its final London performance on its 21st birthday, May 11, 2001. On June 19, 1997, Cats became the longest running musical on Broadway. It ended its 18 year run on Sept. 10, 2000. Last year, the national tour celebrated its 25th anniversary season.

Now that it’s been seen by over 8,250,000 audience members, it is time to introduce Cats to a new generation. Midnight. Not a sound from the pavement. Suddenly an explosion of music and lights reveals a larger than life junkyard. Probing car lights tear across the darkened landscape of bottles and boxes, briefly catching the darting image of a running feline. Tonight is the one special night each year when the tribe of Jellicle Cats reunites to celebrate who they are. This is the story of Cats.

Individual tickets are $35.95 and $42.95 plus tax and service fee for evening and matinee performances. Show times are 8:00 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 24; and 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 25.
