Beau Rivage Welcomes Funambula, Theatrical Circus Sensation, June 11-August 11
Talented Cast Including Comic Daredevil Bello Nock Perform in Summer Production Show
BILOXI, Miss. –Beau Rivage is pleased to welcome FUNAMBULA, a theatrical circus sensation, to its theatre for a limited eight-week summer engagement, June 11- August 11.
FUNAMBULA is derived from the Latin term fūnambulus, meaning rope dancer. An international cast of accomplished aerialists, acrobats and tightrope walkers dramatic performances will compel audiences to wonder if they are from another world. FUNAMBULA includes never before seen acts and will be performed for the first time on stage anywhere in the Beau Rivage Theatre. Among the performers are two contortionists who twist their bodies and seamlessly maneuver in a tiny glass cube, a troupe of talented trampoline jumpers, trapeze artists, and a rhythmic gymnast champion who has won competitions in the Ukraine and across the world.
“Circus artists provoke wonder and emotion and defy words and descriptions,” said DreamCast Entertainment’s Misha Matorin, the show’s creator and producer. “FUNAMBULA features the amazing comedic daredevil Bello Nock whose stunts, humor and charisma have won him numerous awards and the admiration of thousands of fans worldwide. In this theatrical circus sensation, Bello’s character will be pulled by mystical creatures into the surreal world of fantasy. Audiences young and old will be engaged, entertained and inspired and we are confident this show will not only leave audience members on the edge of their seats, it will bring crowds to their feet,” added Matorin.
Bello Nock made history in 2012 when he completed Mississippi’s first-ever tightrope walk 360 feet high in the air atop Beau Rivage. He holds a Guinness World Record for his wire walk over a cruise ship at sea and was awarded the “Gold Clown,” the circus world’s highest honor, by Princess Stephanie at the 2011 Monte Carlo International Circus Festival. Couple these accolades with his January of 2009 induction into the “Circus Ring of Fame”, where he is the group’s youngest honoree, along with his 2012 Ringling Museum “Circus Celebrity of the Year” win and it’s easy to understand why Bello was singled out by TIME magazine as “America’s Best Clown.”
